On 17th May, a delegation of members of the European Chamber's PRD Chapter, along with Carmen Cano, Deputy Head of the EU Delegation to China, met with Chen Zhiying, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality and Municipal Standing Committee Member.
This meeting was an opportunity to communicate the general concerns of European businesses operating in Guangzhou to high-level, local government representatives. During the meeting, the Vice Mayor recognised the importance of the work of the European Chamber and showed a strong interest in, and knowledge of, the challenges faced by European businesses in Guangzhou.
Amongst other points, he highlighted the importance of supporting SMEs, IPR protection and branding PRD as a region with transformed economic growth. The European Chamber delegation presented a copy of the Position Paper 2012/2013 to the Vice Mayor.
