Briefing Sessions with the European Commissioner for the Internal Market and Services

On 11th June the European Chamber and several representatives of the Working Groups met with Mr. Charlie McCreevy, European Commissioner of the Directorate General for the Internal Market and Services, before his meetings with Chinese ministers and chairmen of a number of financial regulators.

Two briefing sessions were hosted by the European Delegation:

 
The Breakfast Meeting featured in depth discussions on the Chinese financial sector and the hurdles that European financial services providers face in China. Represented by the Chairs and members of the Banking & Securities Working Group, as well as the Chairs of the Insurance Working Group, the overall message was the need to continue cooperating with China, further pursue the opening of the domestic financial market, and encourage equal treatment between foreign and domestic financial service providers.
The Lunch briefing was represented by the Chairs and members of the IPR Working Group, as well as the Public Procurement Working Group, who expressed the need to further open the procurement market and enhance efforts to promote IPR protection.
