European Chamber meets with Mrs. Lalis, Director for Consumer Goods

Mrs. Lalis, Director for Consumer Goods (automobile, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, medical devices and food) within the Directorate General, visited the Chamber on July 10 to meet with Chairpersons of related Working Groups.

At this briefing, Chairmen of the Automotive, Auto Components, Pharmaceutical, Medical Equipment and Cosmetics Working Group had the opportunity to raise their issues and put them on the agenda of the EU Commission. Specific issues discussed included:

- Licences for medical devices
- Pre-market product standards
- Refurbishment
- API
- CCC-certificate
- Safety of cosmetics products

Mrs. Lalis was also accompanied by Mr Shulte-Braucks and Mrs Mitchell, respectively Head and Administrator of the Automobile Unit. The Automotive and Automotive Components Chairpersons took the opportunity to have a more in depth discussion with them on topics such as fuel quality, type approval and homologation standards, safety limitation on investment and IPR.

Director Lalis’s visit to China is part of a greater overall visit by Director General Heinz Zourek from the Directorate General for Enterprise and Industry of the EU Commission.  Both Director General Zourek and Director Lalis had meetings with NDRC, AQSIQ, MoH and SFDA in the days that followed.
