EUCCC Seminar on Standardization and Technical Innovation in China Revealed Local Policies on Subsidies Available to EU companies Participating in the Standardization Drafting Process


July 6th, Shenzhen, the European Chamber together with the Shenzhen Institute for Standards and Technology (SIST), the Administration for Quality and Technology Supervision (AQTS) and the Standardization Expert for China representing CEN – CENELEC – ETSI – EU – EFTA - Mr. Klaus Ziegler introduced to the European business community a comprehensive update on the recent standardization strategy in PRD area, AQTS services relevant to foreign companies, the China-Europe Standards Platform as well as some update on 3C and market surveillance in PRD area. SIST revealed a recent policy on subsidizing companies which cooperate and participate in the standardization drafting process. Mr. Ziegler pointed out some hot topics in China standardization policy, such as smart grid, EV, renewables and CCC-I certification related to the energy and resource saving and safety and security standards, as well as the certification of indigenous products. Mr. Ziegler pointed out that such standard based trade barriers and increased technical barriers to trade may lead to indirect restriction on market access and less competitiveness of European business in China market.
