In his recent trip to China, Lord Mayor of the City of London Mr. Alderman Luder paid a visit to the European Chamber in Shanghai, where he joined roundtable talks with a number of Chamber Board members and Chairs of the Banking, Private Equity and Strategic M&A, and Legal Working Groups. The Lord Mayor briefed the Chamber on his recent government meetings in Beijing and Shanghai and the Working Group representatives were able to speak on the current issues being faced in their respective industries.

In anticipation of the Shanghai International Finance Centre: Solutions Forum being held on 25th June, the plan for the promotion of Shanghai as an international financial and shipping centre was discussed. This included topics such as the convertibility of the RMB, the coordination of financial regulatory bodies, and attracting and retaining a skilled workforce.
