Dear Finance & Taxation Working Group (F&T WG) Members,

The Finance & Taxation Working Group is delighted to invite you to the first WG meeting of the new year. During this kick-off meeting, we will review the past activities of the WG, as well as discuss about WG priorities in 2019. Members are encouraged to join the discussion and provide input on the WG’s 2019 activities, advocacy and Position Paper priorities.

With this occasion, the 2019 F&T Working Group Chairs election will be held. The Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the WG, having a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and coordinating WG meetings and other activities.

Should you wish to put your name forward for the Chairs election or nominate a candidate, please send a short biography and a motivation letter, stating whether you intend to run for Chair or Vice Chair and your plans to promote the working group to Ms. Rachel Chen in South China at rchen@europeanchamber.com.cn by Friday, 22nd March 2019, COB.

The meeting will be held simultaneously in Shanghai, Beijing and South China  via video conference system on April 1st afternoon.

Tentative Agenda:

14:15-14:30     Opening remarks

14:30-14:45     Review of 2018 working group performance

14:45-15:15     2019 Chair and Vice Chairs elections

15:15-16:00     Discussion on 2019 activities, advocacy and Position Paper priorities

16:00     Closing remarks

Chairs Election Policy:

In accordance with European Chamber internal guidelines, a separate email will be sent to Working Group members prior to the election, with the biographies and motivation letters of all candidates attached. Regarding the elections voting procedure, there will be one vote per company, which must be conducted in person at the WG meeting after each candidate has had the opportunity to give a short speech on why they would like to run for election. The duration of the term for both Chairs and Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the attached Code of Conduct, following election. To familiarise yourself with the Code of Conduct and responsibilities as Chairs, please refer to the attached Starter Kit.

We encourage as many of our members as possible to attend the meeting to have their say in the leadership and representation of the F&T WG in the year ahead.
