质量控制和质量管理在供应商管理中扮演着非常重要的角色，随着社会生产力的发展，社会分工越来越细，专业化程度也越来越高，供应商质量管理的重要性日益凸现，由供应商提供的原材料直接关系着最终产品的质量，因而原材料的质量已成为多米诺骨牌中的第一张。无论是采购工程师还是质量工程师，都必须从采购和质量两个角度对供应商进行管理。
