A significant number of fresh graduates are not equipped with the competitive skills needed to function successfully in the current work environment in China, resulting in companies spending large amounts of time and money in training.
To help bridge the gap between students’ capabilities and market needs, the European Chamber Human Resources Working Group further recommends that companies get involved in developing university curriculum. Academia and business need to work hand in hand to share resources and develop competitive talent the market needs.
To discuss this topic at length, the European Chamber is delighted to welcome a host of professionals leading this change on the universities and companies side, who will share their experiences, challenges and best practices.

The Petrochemicals, Chemicals & Refining (PCR) Working Group is glad to invite you to their next Joint Working Group Meeting, that will take place on Wednesday, 27th September, 16:00-18:00 at the European Chamber Shanghai Office. Members from Beijing can join via videoconference.

During this meeting, we will have a discussion about the recent campaign to enforce environmental law from the MEP and local environmental protection agencies.

In the past three months some members of the European Chamber have found increased difficulties to operate their business, mainly as a consequence of environmental regulation strictly enforced by the MEP and local environmental protection agencies. In some cases, companies have been requested to stop their production immediately. According to the information received by the European Chamber, the involved areas mainly include Jiangsu Province, Zhejiang Province, Shandong Province, Guangdong Province, Shanghai and Tianjin.
