The tradition of annual visits to Brussels to present the Position Paper goes back fifteen years. Following the MIIT Notice on Cleaning Up and Regulating the Internet Access Service Market released in January 2017, China has been cracking down unauthorised VPNs, and has intensified relevant efforts following the entry into force of the Cybersecurity Law.
