European Chamber Takes Key Role in EU-China Business Roundtable to Raise Concerns with Political Leadership

President Mats Harborn led a delegation of members to participate in the China-EU Business Roundtable, co-organised by the European Chamber and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT), and jointly guided by the European Commission and the Chinese Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM).

President of the European Commission Jean-Claude Juncker and Premier of the People’s Republic of China Li Keqiang addressed the opening session of the roundtable. Jean-Luc Demarty, European Commission’s Director-General for Trade and Fu Ziying, Chinese Vice-Minister of Commerce chaired the second session. The roundtable was designed to provide a platform for European and Chinese political and business leaders to exchange on trade and investment issues of common interest.

The delegation delivered a series of short speeches to China’s and the EU’s leadership on various matters relating to doing business in China, as well as the progress and shortcomings that have been noted in the reform agenda over the last year.
