Within the growing renewable energy market, production is increasingly moving offshore, both in a move to capture better and more abundant energy resources as well as for social and logistical reasons. Half of the world’s population lives within 60 km from the coastline, making it a natural match for energy supply and demand. Demand for new-build and converted FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessels and FLNG (Floating Liquid Natural Gas) facilities have increased due to the declining rate of new onshore oil discoveries to historic low levels and also from technology that enables efficient deepwater oil exploration in unprecedented ocean depths.

2020 Cybersecurity Conference

2020 has been a year full of challenges due to the COVID-19, but not even a pandemic has been able to stop the roll-out of new big pieces of Cybersecurity implementation rules and draft laws, for example, one notable release has been the draft for the Data Security Law in July 2020. Increasing efforts into regulating the cyberspace from the lawmakers has been paralleled with doubling compliance endeavours from foreign businesses in China. Therefore, the European Chamber is delighted to welcome a distinguished group of government body representatives, lawyers, security experts and industry representatives to jointly examine how the Cybersecurity Law and the Data Security Draft Law will coexist and harmonise in the business environment.
