Design Thinking is a highly-efficient and systematic 5-phase innovation approach developed at Stanford University. Its main goal is to find simple solutions to complex problems. What Kaizen was for Manufacturing Design Thinking is for Innovation, combining lean and agile.
However, to come up with comprehensive solutions to complex business and social problems, business viability and technological feasibility must have to be addressed with appropriate tools and methods: Therefore, we introduce Design Thinking inspired by “Jobs to be Done Theory”:
After more than 10 years of helping multinationals and medium-sized companies around the globe, we have iterated Design Thinking. Our Design Thinking Approach is greatly enhanced with the “Jobs to be Done” Theory, popularized by Harvard Professors Clayton Christenson and Tony Ulwick. It explains WHY people “hire” a certain product or service: mainly to get a specific job done. These specific “jobs” should be the unit of analysis. If we deeply understand the “real jobs” that our clients and users want to get done, then we are creating innovative products, services, new business and solve complex problems, that will add deep value to our internal / external users.
In this course you will experience a full Design Thinking Cycle and its core principles:
- Empathy & Define Phase: using “job canvas” and the 5 principles to explore opportunities for innovation.
-
At Ideation Phase: using 3 evaluation criteria to prioritize and identify the winning solutions
-
At Prototype & Test Phase: using “SAP Scenes” and “BUILT” tool to create quick prototypes and test with users.
Who Should attend
This program is for those aiming to build innovative products, services, business models, and organizational concepts using a creative, collaborative mindset, Design Thinking focuses on human-centered innovation and strategy, and is thus highly interdisciplinary (embracing ideas from different employees across the organization). Participants from all industries, functions, and levels of experience are welcome to join this course. Bring your team, to amplify an innovation culture in your organization
This includes:
- Executives

- Fosters innovation
- Unlocks the creative potential within the organization at all levels
Business Users
- Encourages contrasting view points to get a holistic perspective on problems and solutions
- Eliminates the need to sign off on lengthy blueprint documents & requirement checklists. Design Thinking visual prototypes are co-created with business users and refined through iterative feedbacks at an early stage of the project
- Increases user commitment. Users create their solution prototypes in a very short time that establishes small yet concrete steps to move the innovation journey one step forward in just one day
- Embraces ambiguity and a learning mindset. Design Thinking framework enforces that the first solution is rarely (if ever) the perfect solution, and that innovation requires iteration.
IT Users
- Allows innovation under tight constraints (budget and time). The end solution could be a combination of your existing platforms, new technologies as well as process improvements
- Results in ultimate user adoption due to the co-creation process
- Breaks down the political barriers and knowledge gaps between IT and non-IT users

Design Thinking for Business Athletes® Ambassadors
“We deeply focus on the implementation of Design Thinking and latest innovation approaches at the core of our Product Development Process in Brose China (in 2017). It helps us to understand key innovation trends, and how we can quickly apply them to our business. We could significantly reduce time and money in our R&D processes. Overall our employees understand now how they unveil real client needs and put them into innovative concepts. If we really want to solve the current challenges the global automotive industry is currently facing, we have to change the way we think and work.
