The European Green Deal sets out a clear path towards realising the European Union (EU's) ambitious target of a 55 per cent reduction in carbon emissions compared to 1990 levels by 2030, and to become a climate-neutral continent by 2050. As part of the EU Green Deal, a proposal for a Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) has been introduced to prevent the risk of carbon leakage.
