The European Union Chamber of Commerce and the China Electric Power Planning & Engineering Institute will co-organise the first China-Europe Energy Technology Innovation Cooperation Forum in Beijing on 28 October 2020. Within the growing renewable energy market, production is increasingly moving offshore, both in a move to capture better and more abundant energy resources as well as for social and logistical reasons. Half of the world’s population lives within 60 km from the coastline, making it a natural match for energy supply and demand. Demand for new-build and converted FPSO (Floating Production Storage and Offloading) vessels and FLNG (Floating Liquid Natural Gas) facilities have increased due to the declining rate of new onshore oil discoveries to historic low levels and also from technology that enables efficient deepwater oil exploration in unprecedented ocean depths.
