Introduction

European Chamber Pharmaceutical Working Group is pleased to invite you to save date for the upcoming working group meeting on the theme 'Review of Healthy China Initiative and Outlook of China's Medical and Healthcare System Reforms 健康中国建设与医药卫生体制改革下一程'. The session will be delivered by our distinguished guest speaker Mr. Yu Jiantuo, Deputy Secretary-General (SG) of China Development Research Foundation (CDRF) on 13th June 2024 at 10:00-11:30 a.m. (Beijing time).

The meeting will be held both offline (in the European Chamber Beijing and Shanghai offices) and online (via Teams). You are welcome to join the meeting in any of the three ways, at your convenience. 

During the session, Deputy SG Liu will walk us through the past journey of China's efforts of achieving the Healthy China goal and, in light of the challenges currently facing the Chinese populations, will provide an outlook on the future direction of medical and health system reform. 本次讲座讲回顾总结健康中国建设，并结合当前人群健康的突出挑战，就未来医药卫生体制改革的走向进展展望

Carol Liu (Ms)
Vice President, Health Affairs & Market Access, Human Affairs, Greater China, Boehringer Ingelheim;
National Chair, Pharmaceutical Working Group, European Chamber
Ms. Carol Liu is leading Healthcare Affairs & Market Access organization in Boehringer Ingelheim
with responsibilities on government affairs, healthcare affairs, market access, and patient
engagement for human pharma business. She joined Boehringer Ingelheim in 2019. She is a
member of Human Pharma Leadership Team.
Ms. Carol Liu has more than 20-years working experience in government affairs and market access
arena for international healthcare companies. She spent the first ten years of her career in Johnson
& Johnson where she held successive roles in Finance, Communication, Government Affairs & Policy,
Pricing, Reimbursement, Health Economics, and Market Access. She worked in both China and the
J&J headquarters in the US. After J&J, Ms. Carol Liu had been taking the management roles as Head
of Strategic Policy for Roche China, and Regional Director of Government Affairs for Hospira Asia.
Prior to Boehringer Ingelheim, she worked as Vice President of Government Affairs & Market Access
for Lundbeck in charge of integrated functions including government affairs, market access, key
account management, supply and commercial.
Ms. Carol Liu holds a Bachelor Degree in International Economics from Peking University and a
Master in Public Policy from John F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University.

YU Jiantuo, Deputy Secretary-General, China Development Research Foundation (CDRF). Before joining CDRF in 2009, he subsequently worked at Johns-Hopkins Nanjing Center (2001-2005), Center for Human and Economic Development Studies (Peking University) (2005-2007) and UNDP China Country Office (2007-2008). He had been the visiting fellow of OPHI, Oxford University, in 2008, and the visiting fellow of Harvard Kennedy School in 2018. He works in the areas of theory and practice of human development approach, poverty and inequality, urbanization and regional development, rural development, and impact investment.
俞建拖，中国发展研究基金会副秘书长。在2009年加入基金会之前，他曾先后担任约翰斯·霍普金斯南京中心项目研究员（2001-2005）、南京大学长江三角洲经济与社会发展研究中心（2004-2005）、北京大学经济与人类发展研究中心研究员、主任助理（2005-2007），以及联合国开发计划署驻华代表处项目顾问（2007-2008）工作。2008年受邀为牛津大学贫困与人类发展研究中心访问学者，2018年受邀为哈佛大学肯尼迪政府管理学院访问学者。主要的研究领域包括城市化与区域发展、农村发展、贫困与不平等、国际发展合作、人类发展的理论与实践、影响力投资。
