On June 1st, 2020, the Chinese Central Committee and the State Council jointly released the Overall Plan for the Construction of Hainan Free Trade Port (“the Masterplan”), a large-scale plan to transform the entire island province into a free trade port (FTP) – making it the largest special free trade zone in China. The Masterplan laid out a series of special policies for Hainan – liberalization of trade of goods and services, facilitation of investment, opening-up of key sectors, and free exchange of people, capital, and data. Coupled with preferential policies of the Hainan Bo’ao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone, Hainan is expected to be the rising hub of new investment and business opportunities.

Investment in the fintech sector has remained strong even in the face of turmoil and volatility in global markets and despite macroeconomic concerns. Demand for fintech innovations by financial institutions has continued to grow.

FinTech can bring numerous benefits to both consumers and businesses. .
