The annual Business Confidence Survey and the annual Position Paper are the two most important publications of the European Chamber. In this forthcoming event, we like to share with you the views of European business leaders about the performance of their companies and future outlook of European business in China. This event provides you with insights on the situation of European businesses in China and in Southwest China, about particular challenges and concerns. It also compares the situation in Southwest with the overall of China. The presentation is given by the Secretary General of the European Chamber, and this event is a must for decision-makers of European companies and in general of foreign-invested enterprises in China. The event provides you with information to gauge your own operation with other European companies.

The 11th edition of the Business Confidence Survey 2015 brings together the input of over 540 senior representatives from the European Chamber’s member companies to provide an annual overview of their performance in the Chinese market and their outlook for the future. The overview is broken down by industry, company size and time in China. The Business Confidence Survey compiles information that is not available elsewhere. The Business Confidence Survey Executive Summary 商业信心调查报告执行摘要
The protracted Chinese economic slowdown remains the top business challenge. Pessimism about growth and profitability has forced European businesses to cut back significantly, particularly through headcount reduction: 39% are planning to cut costs—a large jump from just 24% in 2014—with most of them planning employee lay-offs. China remains a key market and thus European companies want the ‘new normal’, much like China wants to move its economy up the value chain. However, the regulatory framework has yet to come into place. In particular, a better implementation of the rule of law is seen as the top driver for China’s economic development going forward.
This survey compiled responses from 541 European Chamber member companies and was produced in partnership with Roland Berger Strategy Consultants. European Chamber members are knowledge leaders in their areas of industry, and are the chief contributors to the Chamber's influential publications.
中国长期的经济下行仍是在华企业所面临的首要挑战。欧洲企业对于经济增长和盈利持悲观态度，他们中的大多数正在计划裁员：相较2014年的不到四分之一，如今这一比例已经快速升高到了39%。但是对于这些欧洲企业来说，中国仍然是一个关键的市场，欧洲企业已做好准备迎接“新常态”，而中国正在推动经济在价值链上的攀升。然而，监管框架还未具体实施。法治制度的更好执行被认为是主导中国经济发展前进的首要动力。
