Xi Jinping made his first presidential visit to Europe in March, signifying a new chapter in the EU-China strategic partnership. What’s the biggest highlight of this trip? What opportunities does this visit open for trade and investment? What does it mean to the operation and business development of European companies in China?
On 30th May, European Chamber will facilitate an Exclusive Dialogue with Director General Sun Yongfu, Department of European Affairs of MOFCOM, in the Hilton Hotel Wangfujing. During this event, DG Sun will provide an official interpretation of Xi’s recent visit to the EU. Meanwhile, he will also evaluate the development of China-EU trade and investment relations during the past year, and indicate industries or fields that require particular attention in terms of future growth.
What’s more, DG Sun will also share with the participants an update of the EU-China Bilateral Investment Agreement negotiation, namely a timeline and possible new initiatives by the Chinese government and European authorities to prevent trade frictions. We also expect DG Sun to indicate when the revised version of the <China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Negative List> will be issued, as well as whether the central government already has a clear plan on the next batch of regional FTZs.
European Chamber President Joerg Wuttke will deliver the welcome remarks, while Vice President Mats Harborn will moderate this event.
For the Q&A session scheduled after the presentation, all questions need to be submitted in advance. If you have a question for Director General Sun, please send by close of business on 23rd May, 2013, to Ms Melody Ji mji@europeanchamber.com.cn. For registration, please contact Ms Qiulan Zhu qlzhu@europeanchamber.com.cn.
