The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China, AmCham-China, China-Australia Chamber of Commerce in Beijing, and British Chamber of Commerce in China are delighted to invite you to an afternoon seminar on Tuesday, 26th April at Hilton Beijing hotel.
Recent years have seen significant developments in the structure of law firms. In some jurisdictions, these developments are in line with established trends, such as the current proposal to recognise limited liability partnerships in Hong Kong.
In other jurisdictions, new structures have emerged. In Australia, for example, the law allows legal firms to be incorporated and even to list on the local stock exchange.
And in the United Kingdom, the regulators are currently considering the adoption of alternative business structures, which would allow law firms to be owned by non-lawyers, such as investment banks and insurance companies.
In this presentation, Andrew Godwin will discuss the reasons behind the proposed reforms, the challenges in terms of maintaining professional standards, and also the potential impact of these developments in the Asia Pacific region.
