The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to the kick-off meeting of the Automotive Working Group which will take place onsite from Beijing and online on 20th March 13:30 to 16:00.
There will be two main topics: 1) keynote speech on autonomous driving by an external expert and 2) internal discussion of the working group, including discussion of 2024/2025 Position Paper and election of chairs.

During this meeting we will hold our 2024-2025 chair elections. Working Group members interested in running for this year’s Chair elections, should take notice of the following:
Call for Candidates to Chair and Vice Chairperson of the Automotive WG
- Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, including a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice-chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company. To familiarise yourself with the Code of Conduct and responsibilities as chairs, please refer to the attached Starter Kit.
The Automotive WG is going to elect one Chairperson and two Vice chairpersons. (The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in China.)
The Chairs and Vice-Chairs should represent different sectors and issues, therefor we encourage employees across industries to apply for elections. If you are interested in running for Chair or Vice Chair, please submit the following information to che@europeanchamber.com.cn before 15th March noon.

- Motivation letter on why you wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair, include but not limited to:
- Specification of the role you are applying for
- how your background and experience match the role
- the goals you have for the Automotive WG for following 12 months
- how you intend to utilise or share professional resources for the benefit of the WG, and
- whether you hold a position in another Chamber or industry association.
Only Automotive WG members who had their registration confirmed for this meeting will have the right to vote in person or online, with one vote per company. If there is no competition for the election, the result will be announced after the candidates’ speech.
In accordance with European Chamber internal guidelines, another email will be sent to the Working Group prior to the election, with the biographies and motivation letters of all candidates attached. The duration of the term for both Chairs and Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the Code of Conduct following the election.
