The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the next Non-Banking Financial Institutions (NBFI) Working Group meeting, “Updates on Cybersecurity and Data Protection in the Financial Services Sector.” It will be held on Tuesday, 19th December 15:00 - 16:00, at the European Chamber Shanghai office and online via Zoom. Please note that this meeting will be held in English and is only open to European Chamber members.
In 2023, China’s cybersecurity authorities have continued to update regulations on data protection and cybersecurity, particularly focusing on cross-border data transfer (CBDT) and personal information protection. The proposed easing of certain CBDT restrictions as well as the Cyberspace Administration of China’s draft measures proposing regular compliance audits to assess whether companies are in compliance with the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) aim to strengthen and clarify the legal framework for data protection and cyber security. These regulatory developments will continue to heavily impact companies in the financial services sector, who are classified as Critical Information Infrastructure Operators (CIIOs).
At this meeting, Sean Pan, Partner in the Cyber & Privacy Services at PwC will provide an update on the latest developments in cybersecurity and data protection in China, particularly as they relate to the financial services sector. The presentation will introduce the most recent regulatory updates and practices related to cybersecurity and data protection in the financial services sector, followed by a case study in the non-banking sector. Please do not hesitate to share with us any areas of particular interest/concern, or open questions you would like to be discussed during the session.
As always, we welcome your suggestions for agenda topics and possible speakers for this and future meetings.
If you would like to attend this meeting, please feel free to register using our website or contact Ms. Kalina Pateva at kpateva@europeanchamber.com.cn indicating your attendance in Shanghai or online.
