In the current complex and changeable economic environment, the execution results of the transfer pricing of the inter-group affiliated transactions of multinational enterprises are likely to deviate from the expected goals, resulting in the profit and loss level of the affiliated transactions being lower than expected or the retention of excess profits. In order to deal with the adverse effects of these deviations and effectively manage the potential tax risks, multinational enterprises can manage the annual execution results of transfer pricing between related enterprises through the year-end adjustment of transfer pricing. Background:
Cheng Chi, with prior experiences in Europe with another leading accounting firm, has been focusing on providing transfer pricing advisory services from China since 2004. He is well respected in the business and tax authorities’ communities and is recognized as a technical expert in transfer pricing, having been receiving the awards of Lead Transfer Pricing Advisor in China from Legal Media Group consecutively since 2009. Between 2010 and 2018, Cheng led the KPMG Global Transfer Pricing Service Line in mainland China and Hong Kong. He sits on the global steering committee for global transfer pricing services of the KPMG network.
Professional and Industry Experience:
Cheng has led numerous transfer pricing and tax value chain projects in Asia and Europe. He was involved in many advance pricing arrangement negotiations, cost contribution arrangements, Pan-Asia documentation, controversy resolution, and global supply chain restructuring for clients across a broad range of industries and sectors.
He has successfully assisted clients in obtaining favourable results in transfer pricing audit defence and APA negotiations that provides immediate and long-term value.
In addition to lecturing at national and local training events organized by the Chinese tax authorities, Cheng has provided technical advice on a number of recent transfer pricing legislative initiatives in China. A frequent speaker on TP and other matters, his analysis is regularly featured in tax and TP publications around the world.
