NBFI WG 2022 Kick-off Meeting " Money Transfers: Cross-border Payment Solutions, Chair Elections and Mini PP Discussion"
Date: Thursday 24th March, 14.00-16.00
Venue: European Chamber’s Beijing office as well as online via Zoom
Dear Members,
The European Chamber’s NBFI Working Group is delighted to invite you to its 2022 Kick-off Meeting " Money Transfers: Cross-border Payment Solutions, Chair Elections and Mini PP Discussion" which is to take place on Thursday 24th March, 14.00-16.00 pm at the European Chamber’s Beijing and Shanghai offices as well as online via Zoom.
Traditionally, banks were the only player in the market that facilitated cross-border payments. In the past few years, a wide variety of online payment platforms have arose offering a reliable, easy-to-use, and inexpensive alternative to traditional commercial banks. During the meeting, Ms Rilly Chen, China Country Manager at Wise will present existing options to facilitate cross-border payments between Europe and China. Ms Rilly Chen’s presentation will be followed by an update on the status of PBOC’s call for comments on the draft regulation for local financial supervision and administration for Local Financial Organisation by Olivier Rambert and Stella Chen.
At this meeting we will also discuss this year’s NBFI Position Paper and hold working group Chair and Vice Chair elections for 2022/23. Only WG members who have their registration confirmed for this meeting will have the right to vote in person or online, with one vote per company. The Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the WG Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings.
We encourage as many of our members as possible to attend to have their say in the leadership and representation of the Working Group in the year ahead. To attend the meeting please register online or email Ms Ludivine Destree at ldestree@europeanchamber.com.cn (Beijing) before Tuesday 22nd March COB Beijing Time. For members wishing to attend remotely, please note that you will receive a confirmation email containing the link to join the meeting via Zoom after registration closes.
Should you be interested in putting your name forward for election, please send your CV and Motivation Letter, stating whether you intend to run for Chair or Vice Chair to Ms. Ludivine Destree at ldestree@europeanchamber.com.cn by latest Friday 18th March COB. In your Motivation Letter please state why your wish to be elected Chair or Vice Chair and provide a set of goals you have for the WG over the next 12 months as well as your intended contribution to the Position Paper.
