Dear Members,
The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to its next Financial Services Joint Working Group Meeting: An Update on China Cybersecurity and Data Protection and their Impacts on the Financial Services sector which is to take place on Wednesday 20th October 2021, 2:30-4:00 p.m.
At this meeting, Mr Alex Roberts, Counsel at Linklaters, will provide an update on the latest developments in cybersecurity and data protection in China with a focus on the Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) which will soon come into effect. As China’s first law specifically regulating the protection of personal information, the PIPL will have a direct impact on the protection of personal information rights of individuals, as well as data privacy compliance of enterprises. Moreover, together with the Cybersecurity Law of the People’s Republic of China and the Data Security Law of the People’s Republic of China, the PIPL is building up a more complete, comprehensive, and systematic legal framework in China’s information protection and cybersecurity field. Therefore, the main objectives of this meeting are to examine the impacts of these laws on the financial institutions but also share case studies and help members prepare to be compliant.
Register by email to Ms Ludivine Destree at ldestree@europeanchamber.com.cn before Tuesday 19th October, noon. Members may join at our Shanghai/ Beijing office or online (by Zoom). When registering please confirm whether you will attend in person or online and submit your company’s questions.
