The European Chamber is delighted to invite you to join the next Banking & Securities Working Group Meeting: Weathering the Storm. What to expect on the MPA issue and the policy stances from PBOC/SAFE. The meeting will take place from 16.00-17.30, 15th March 2021, at the European Chamber.
Register online or email Pablo Galvez at pgalvez@europeanchamber.com.cn before Monday 11th March, COB. You will receive a confirmation email containing the link to join the meeting via Zoom after registration closes the day before. You may also attend in person at the Beijing office. Please send an email to pgalvez@europeanchamber.com.cn if your preference is in person attendance.
The recent measures taken by both PBOC and SAFE regarding their latest adjustment of macro prudential policy on cross border financing have had a very significative impact on the business operations of many foreign banks and created hurdles in the future plans of many others. Ms. Grace Li, Partner at Baker Mckenzie, has tons of experience in the field of regulatory affairs in the banking industry. She will discuss in detail what we can expect from the regulator (PBOC/SAFE) on their latest notice and what banks should take into account.
In this meeting, we will also hold the 2021-2022 WG Chair Elections. The Working Group is going to elect one Chair and three Vice-Chairs. Please let us know to which position would you like to present your candidacy. Only members based in either Beijing or Shanghai can run for the abovementioned positions.
The Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the WG Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings.
