Dear Members,
The Investment Working Group is pleased to invite you to the “Non-taxable Benefits Cut-off for Foreign Expats and 2021 Local Chair Election” Working Group meeting, which is taking place on Tuesday, February 23rd, 2:30pm to 4:00pm (GMT+8:00, China time) at the European Chamber’s Chongqing office, as well as online via Zoom.
This important meeting will consist of Non-taxable Benefits Cut-off for Foreign Expats and the 2021 Local Chair Election. Candidates running for the election will introduce themselves and their goals for the Investment Working Group over the following 12 months. Only Investment WG members who had their registration confirmed for this meeting will have the right to vote in person or online, with one vote per company. Voters shall present (physically attend or dial in) at the election, or appoint a proxy to attend the election to vote on his/her behalf (sending proxy name to the BM at least one working day prior to the election). Online voting instructions will be sent via email to individual attendees prior to the meeting.

Working Group members interested in running for this year’s Chair election, should take notice of the following:
Roles and Responsibilities
The Chairperson and Vice Chairperson play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, including a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chair are a senior industry representative with relevant expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. Before applying for the position of Chair or Vice-chair, we recommend that you obtain approval from your company.
The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair position if he/she is physically based in China.
The Investment Working Group is going to elect one Chairperson and one Vice-Chairperson in Southwest Chapter.
If you are interested in running for Chair or Vice Chair, please read the attached Starter Kit for Chairs and submit the following information to chongqing@europeanchamber.com.cn before February 13th, COB:
• Short resume/CV
• Motivation letter on why you wish to be elected Local Chair or Local Vice Chair including:
o why you wish to be elected Local Chair or Local Vice Chair
o how your background and experience match the role
o the goals you have for the Investment working group over the following 12 months
o how you intend to utilise or share professional resources for the benefit of the Working Group
The nominees will be announced and their profiles will be shared one week before the election.
