In recent years, there is an increasing array of issues related to the field of cybersecurity, data and cloud servicing that are having a very significant impact on the Banking industry. The purpose of this meeting is to shed light into some of these problems, the current regulatory framework, the impact on foreign banks, ways to improve the situation and discuss what banks can do to mitigate some of the problems.
Ms. Han Ying, VP of Cyber & Technology Controls at JP Morgan, will cover several issues that have become highly relevant for foreign banks in recent years. She will address the important subject of stringent data localisation requirements and prescriptive cybersecurity which are conducive to an increase in foreign banks’ operational risks and associated costs. She will present some of the problems with the current regulatory framework such as the Cybersecurity Law and other measures and possible ways to work around these problems. She will also tackle the issue of increasing cybersecurity inspections and penetration testing requirements and the effect on the sector. She will also go into two other important elements: The Standard Setting process and the current constraints on cloud service.
Ms. Barbara Li, Partner at Norton Rose, will make a brief overview on the new PBOC security specification on handling of personal financial information by financial institutions and tech companies. This new PBOC specification was issued and became effective from Feb 2020 and has a significant impact for banking institutions.
