The European Chamber is pleased to invite you to the Environment Working Group Kick-off Meeting in 2020. It will be held on Wednesday 4 March, 2020, at 10:00-12:00. Considering the risks that might be caused by physical contact, we will have the meeting on-line. The meeting will take place via the platform Zoom. With a meeting ID and a link, you can easily get connected via a laptop or cellphone.Further meeting details will be circulated with registers soon. Enviroment Working Group members in Beijing and Shanghai are both welcomed to join.
At this meeting, we will discuss the current impacts brought by COVID-19 on member companies, challenges that can be foreseen and possible solutions. Based on the discussion, a joint advocacy focuses can be reached and we will follow it throughout the year. During the same meeting, we will hold our 2020-2021 Chair Elections. The Chair and Vice Chairs play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. Should you be interested in putting your name forward for election, please, firstly, read the attached Starter Kit for Chairs’ Code of Conduct and Roles and Responsibilities. To apply, please send your CV and Motivation Letter, stating whether you intend to run for Chair or Vice Chair, and what key recommendations that you would like to propose in the new Position Paper to Ms. Michelle Zhang at mzhang@europeanchamber.com.cn by Friday 21 February 18:00 at latest. In your Motivation Letter please state why your wish to be elected as Chair or Vice Chair, and provide a set of goals you have for the WG over the next 12 months.

In accordance with European Chamber internal guidelines, another email will be sent to the Working Group prior to the election, with the biographies of all candidates attached. Voting for the election, one vote per company, must be conducted in person at the Working Group meeting after each candidate has had the opportunity to give a short speech on why they would like to run for election. The duration of the term for both Chairs and Vice Chairs is one year. All elected Chairpersons must sign the attached Code of Conduct, following election.
