Both the U.S. and China continue to introduce rounds of tariffs after series of unproductive trade talks. On 1st August, Trump announced 10% tariffs on $300 billion worth of Chinese imports, in addition to the 25% already levied on $250 billion worth of Chinese goods. As in return, China announced that it will impose additional retaliatory tariffs against about $75 billion worth of U.S. goods, putting as much as an extra 10% on top of existing rates in response to the U.S. tariffs announced earlier in August.
As the uncertainty during this trade dispute is prolonged, there is more that companies can do other than to sit and wait. The European Chamber of Commerce is delighted to invite Dr. Deming Zhao, Partner of Global Law Office to share his insights on the potential risk that comes with the trade war and discuss possible solutions for this conundrum.
This meeting will cover:
· Current status of the trade war
· Potential impact on industries
· Tariff code issues in the trade war
· Country of origin risks
· Application for tariff exclusions
· FTA and supply chain considerations
