The Insurance Working Group is pleased to invite you to its next working group meeting, taking place on Monday 15 April from 16h to 18h, at the European Chamber Beijing Office.
Chinese regulators are providing increasing signs that the financial sector will be finally opened up and expanded. After that President Xi and PBOC Governor Yi made high level speeches last year on the issue, the industry witnessed some degree of actual and practical implementation. For instance, a full operating license was granted to an European company last year and last week the CBIRC gave the permission to another European company to open a pensions insurance business in China. Finally, last month the CBIRC chairman, Mr. Guo, further confirmed that the sector will experience deep and wide reforms that will favor a higher participation of foreign companies. Nonetheless, the reform process as well as the extend of this opening remain unclear and, at times, difficult to navigate.
Against such a backdrop and in order for companies to grasp new opportunities in China’s financial market expansion and opening up, we will have the pleasure of welcoming Jing HU, Partner and Expert of Financial Services at PwC to share her main observations in regards to the new opportunities for foreign insurance companies in the context of China’s financial expansion and opening up.
With this occasion, we will also discuss the 2019-2020 Insurance Working Group priorities, discuss its Position Paper outline, and host this year’s Chair and Vice-Chairs elections.
