Dear Working Group Member.
We are pleased to invite you to the upcoming joint Consumer Finance & NBFI, Insurance and Banking & Securities Working Group Meeting, which will take place at the European Chamber´s office in Beijing on Wednesday, 29th March starting at 09:00am. As the conference room in Shanghai is not available that day, members in that chapter who would like to join will be able to dial in from their offices.
At this meeting, Mr. ZHOU Guolin, Head of the Statistics Department of the National Internet Finance Association (NIFA) will deliver a presentation focusing which will cover the following:
1. Introduction to the Internet Finance Association, its operational principles, members, major activities;
2. Recent trends and challenges faced by Internet Finance;
3. Regulatory environment for internet finance;
4. Future perspectives of Internet+ and role European companies can play in this respect.
The NIFA is the highest-level national industrial self-regulatory organization for internet finance, which was established by the People’s Bank of China in December 2015.
Consumer Finance & NBFI WG Elections
At this meeting, we will also be holding the elections for the Chair and Vice-Chair position. The Chairperson and Vice Chairpersons play a crucial role in driving the Working Group, which includes a leadership role in the drafting of the Position Paper, communicating key messages to Chinese and European government authorities and steering Working Group meetings. The desired characteristics of a Chair and Vice Chairs are a senior industry representative with relevant industry expertise and government contacts who has the time and willingness to support the Working Group. Previous participation in the Working Group is essential. The maximum duration of Chairperson or Vice Chairperson of a Group is three consecutive years. Candidates are only eligible for Chair or Vice Chair positions if he/she is physically based in China. Only Corporate members are eligible for Chair and Vice Chair positions.
The Working Group is going to elect one national Chairperson and three Vice-Chairpersons, i.e.:
- One Working Group Chair based in Beijing or Shanghai to serve as the National Chair;
- One Vice Chair based in Beijing or Shanghai to serve as Vice Chair and Local Chair (a local Chair can only be based in the city where there is no national Chair);
- Two Vice-Chairs based in one in Beijing and one in Shanghai.
