Medical Technology in China: Growing in a Healthy Market, by Stefan Kracht
China is one of the world’s most attractive healthcare markets and by far the fastest growing emerging market. The medical technology segment in China is the second largest in the world after the US, totalling over USD 40 billion in 2014 with an expected 20% annual growth over the next 3 years. In recent years, there have been significant changes in registration requirements, as well as advancements by local competition.
Stefan Kracht, Managing Director of Fiducia Management Consultants will address what the Chinese government has done to expand the local healthcare network and what impact this has on international companies operating in China.

When visiting the dedicated tradeshows(CMEF or CHINA Med) one can almost feel lost. These are gatherings of thousands of Medical Device Manufacturers, and the number is growing. In example the MRI market in China is approx. 1200 units per year. Traditionally on a global basis there are the 3 industry leaders: GE, Philips and Siemens.
But in nowadays in China alone there are more 10 MRI manufacturers. It seems they are following the government strategy: High Quality Medical Device Made in China. The presentation will provide some insides on this topic.

Mr. Stefan Kracht advises international mid-sized companies on China entry and expansion strategies by helping them understand the market and competitive environment. He took over as Managing Director of Fiducia in 2012, continuing its tradition as a family business with over 30 years of history in China. At Fiducia, he manages 4 offices in Beijing, HongKong, Shanghai and Shenzhen with over 120 specialists. With close to 15 years' experience in China strategy advisory, Stefan Kracht regularly shares his wealth of knowledge at international seminars and with global publications.

Mr. Klaus Zenkel
Biography:
Born in Germany and graduated in Industrial Engineering. Until late 80's mainly remained in Germany near his hometown in Erlangen, where he had a position at Siemens Healthcare HQ.
From 1993 to 2006 he was based in Hongkong, Malaysia, Germany and China for several executive management positions within the Siemens Healthcare organization, one of which was Technical Director at Siemens Healthineers facility(SSMR), based in Shenzhen's Hi-Tech Industrial Park.
In 2006 start-up and developed from scratch the Shenzhen subsidiary of a Swiss Company, Imedco AG. Imedco is global player involved in the healthcare Industry, manufacturing MRI shielding solutions for hospitals and research institutions.
Involvement at European Chamber South China Chapter board since 2016. As an active board member of the European Chamber South China Chapter he holds the Chair of the board position since 2021. In the capacity as EU Chamber Vice President supports the member companies and meets with government officials on a regular basis to discuss the current economic and technological issues.
In March 2021 Klaus was elected as a Director of the Board at the Swiss Chamber in South China. He is also a member of the German Chamber in South China.
Dr. Kate Gaynor
Dr. Kate Gaynor is a board-certified Family Medicine physician. She received her Bachelor of Arts from Yale University with a major in Anthropology and attended Columbia University’s College of Physicians and Surgeons for her medical degree. Dr. Gaynor completed residency in Family Medicine at the University of Washington in 2004.
From 2004 to 2006, Dr. Gaynor served as an officer in the Epidemic Intelligence Service (EIS) of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), assigned to the Disease Outbreak Control Division of the Hawaii Department of Health. Dr. Gaynor remained at the Hawaii Department of Health after completing her CDC assignment, working in epidemiology and emergency preparedness until 2011. Dr. Gaynor also practiced medicine in Hawaii at the Schofield Barracks Family Medicine Clinic and Waianae Coast Comprehensive Health Centers. She was a member of the Hawaii Disaster Medical Assistance Team (DMAT) with which she responded to the 2009 tsunami in American Samoa.
Dr. Gaynor’s interests include global health and cross cultural medicine. She has traveled extensively, working in such diverse areas as Argentina, Fiji, American Samoa, Kyrgyzstan, and Sierra Leone.
Dr. Gaynor sees patients of all ages, both children and adults.
