China is one of the largest markets for imported fresh food nowadays and is expected to keep growing in the near future. However, what obstructs the further expansion of this market is the inter-city and intra-city cold chain logistics, especially the so-called “last mile”.
The European Chamber is pleased to have Mr. Mark Chen, Head of Import Sales control Team of Greater China Cluster, Maersk and Mr. Thomas Lau, Head of Supply Chain Management & Logistics, Metro Cash & Carry China to share their insight and best practice in this area. Maersk and Metro are complementary to each other in the entire cold chain and have good reputation in cold chain management. Mark will share the leading technology and mature procedures they use to guarantee food quality during the transport from foreign farms to Chinese ports. Thomas will focus on the “last mile” part, as how they keep food fresh in inventory, on shelves and in last mile delivery to different types of customers.
