On 8th August, Klaus Zenkel, vice president (VP) of the European Chamber and chair of the South China Chapter, led a delegation to meet with the Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) Guangzhou office. The delegation included Ms Janet Zhang, chair of the South China Finance and Taxation Working Group, and Ms Zhou Fang, chair of the South China Human Resources Working Group. The delegation met with Mr Xie Ying, deputy commissioner of MOFCOM Guangzhou.

On 4th August, the Agriculture, Food and Beverage Working Group submitted comments to the State Administration for Market Regulation on Related Technical Requirements and Interpretation of Health Food Ingredients - Nutrient Supplements (2023 Edition), Catalogue of Health Function Claims Allowed for Health Food - Nutrient Supplements (2023 Edition), Catalogue of Health Food Ingredients - Soy Protein Isolate, and Catalogue of Health Food Ingredients - Whey Protein (Draft for Comment).
Comments on Three Documents including "Health Food Raw Material Soybean Isolate Protein Whey Protein Recorded Product Dosage Forms and Technical Requirements (Draft)" and other documents are open for public comments.
European Chamber Tianjin Chapter Board spoke at an InterChamber meeting organized by Tianjin Government
On 3 August 2023, the European Chamber Tianjin Chapter was invited to an Inter-Chamber meeting organized by Tianjin Commerce Bureau, jointly with AmCham Tianjin Office, Hongkong Chamber, Japanese Chamber, Korean Chamber. European Chamber Tianjin Chapter Board Mr. Massimo Dinelli join the meeting on European Chamber behalf.
Mr. Massimo Dinelli introduced the findings of the Chamber Business Confidence Survey 2023, emphasized the downturn in profitability as data showed. He also pointed out the difficulties for FIEs to recruit both Chinese talents and international talents in Tianjin. The Individual Income Tax policy for expat is regarded as a big challenge for FIEs in China to attract international talents. Mr. Massimo Dinelli also called for regular exchange mechanism with foreign business community.
European Chamber South China Chapter addressed key issues at the European Business Symposium
On 2nd August, the European Chamber South China Board Chair Mr Klaus Zenkel and board member Mr Aaron Finley, were invited to attend and spoke at the European Business Symposium hosted by the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province. The symposium, presided over by Mr Zhang Jinsong, Director General of the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, gathered representatives from diverse foreign chambers of commerce and foreign enterprises.
