Meeting on the Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2018-2020
On 29th November, 2017, the European Chamber had the pleasure to welcome Dr. Laurent Bochereau, Head of Science, Technology and Environment Section, EU Delegation to China to our joint Working Group meeting on Horizon 2020. Mr Bochereau presented the recently released Horizon 2020 Work Programme 2018-2020 and share his insights on cooperation opportunities for industries, followed by a Q&A session with the members.

On 4th June, 2017, the Inter-Chamber SME Working Group Coordinator Mr. Davof Xu as well as other representatives from Embassies met with the city Mayor of Xi'an, Mr. Shangguan Jiqing. Mr. Shangguan Jiqing introduced the history of Xi'an and the impotance of Xi'an in China, he welcomed the further cooperation with the countries along with Silk Road. Mr. Davof Xu, briefly introduced the key concerns of lacking of financing access from EU SMEs at the meeting. , China Ministry of Information and Industry Technology to discuss the primary concern and suggestions from European SMEs in China.

On 1st June, 2017, The InterChamber SME Working Group held a policy meeting on supply-side structural reform (SSSR) in Beijing. During the meeting, Ms Philippa Jones, Managing Director in China Policy and Mr Tianjun Wu in Economist Intelligence Unit to give two presentations on the topic. For Ms Philippa Jones, she mainly focused on political aspect to explain the supply-side structural reform and exampled agriculture in supply side. As for Mr Tianjun Wu, he mainly focused the economic side, illustrate the five main tasks in SSSR, which are cutting (industrial) overcapacity, destocking (housing) inventory, (corporate) deleveraging, lowering (corporate) costs, and improving “weak links”. After the two presentations, there was a Q&A part for attendants to ask speakers questions about the speeches.

Mr. Ye Dingda, the Deputy Director General of SME Bureau of MIIT, and Mr. Zhang Wei, Vice Chairman of CCPIT gave the opening remarks for the opening. Director of Government Affairs (European Affairs), Xavier SansPowell participated in the Opening Ceremony and gave a presentation and introduced the EU-China collaboration opportunities for SMEs.
