European Chamber’s Efforts in Helping Local Foreigners with Venue QR Code Access in Shenyang

Following a new outbreak of COVID-19 in Shenyang, the local government launched a venue QR code covering various locations in the city, in addition to the regular health code. The aim is to better monitor and provide early warnings of any possible cases by tracking each person that visited the designated sites.

However, foreigners living in Shenyang could not access the venue QR code, as the system did not contain their necessary information, which led to many inconveniences in their daily lives and work. Being aware of members’ concerns, the European Chamber Shenyang Chapter took quick action to work closely with the Shenyang Foreign Affairs Office and Shenyang Information Centre, as well as the Entry and Exit Administration Bureau, to resolve the problem. In the short-term, the required information for foreigners can be input manually, and local officials say the information is also being added systematically, which will be completed by the second week of September.

The European Chamber Shenyang Chapter would like to express its appreciation to the local government departments involved for their attention and quick response to the matter, as well as to foreign nationals living in the city for their patience and understanding. The Shenyang Chapter hopes that such concerted efforts will soon bring the current wave of the pandemic under control.
