European Chamber Attends CCPIT Q4 FIEs Seminar

On 16th December, the European Union Chamber of Commerce in China (European Chamber) and its member representatives attended via video link the 2021 Fourth-Quarter Seminar on Foreign-Invested Enterprises, hosted by the Research Department of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT). 

Officials from relevant departments of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), Ministry of Commerce, State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR), China Center for Food and Drug International Exchange (CCFDIE), Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA) attended the meeting and responded to the questions raised by attendants.

Lexie Li, Government Relations Coordinator of the European Chamber, spoke on behalf of the working groups to bring about a few pressing challenges confronted by the European enterprises at the moment. Issues include ICV, automotive carbon emission, EU-China cooperation on green energy, individual income tax (IIT) issue, the resumption of cruise industry in China, as well as the registration inefficiency of cosmetic products caused by the existing reporting procedure.

Member representatives also reflected issues and recommendations including: improving of the payment system for medical consumables for chronic diseases at outpatient service, sustainability of power supply, acceleration of the approval procedure for innovative medical technology, equal treatment for FIEs in government procurement, fast-track policy for (re)entrance in China, improving the quarantine and relevant anti-COVID policies.
