Meeting with Guangdong government on power supply and entry policies

On Oct 12th, European Chamber attended a meeting on power supply and entry policies with Guangdong Department of Commerce, Guangdong Energy Bureau, and Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office. 

Main Points: 

The government has now approved family members (spouses and minors) of foreign workers to enter China. Applications must be submitted as soon as possible because the Guangdong Foreign Affairs Office does not know how and when the policy will be changed again.

Guangdong Department of Commerce Deputy Director General Chen Yuehua mentioned twice that Governor Ma Xingrui attaches much importance to the letters sent by the European Chamber.

The Guangdong Department of Commerce advises consulates and Chambers of Commerce to provide more specific information when they have requests. For example, how many and how seriously affected enterprises are by the power shortage, as well as how many family members of foreign workers want to enter China.
