Meeting with NMPA and Hainan MPA on Regulatory Science Research

Since 2018, NMPA established several Regulatory Science Research Institutes. The one in Hainan was established in November 2020. It is committed to building itself into the academic authority in real world clinical data in medical equipment of both domestic and international.

During the meeting, Hainan MPA, Hainan Boao Lecheng International Medical Tourism Pilot Zone Administration, as well as experts from Medical Institutions/Society, reported their work. Deputy Commissioner of NMPA was present, listened to all the presentations and gave closing remarks.

Jessica Yuan on behalf of the European Chamber expressed that:

a)       Members of Healthcare Equipment Working Group and Pharma WG, could see obvious achievements of NMPA in the aspects of promote the policy and legal system of medical products regulation, deepen the reform of review and approval system, strengthen the whole life cycle supervision, and strengthen the regulation system and capacity-building.

b)      In September 2020, the European Chamber organised corporate delegation to visit Hainan. The president of chamber with some corporate delegation representative met with Danyang Shen deputy provincial governor. Since 2019，The Healthcare Equipment Working Group of The European Chamber supported Hainan MPA’s work in Real World Study (RWS).

c)       In the future, relative working group in the chamber is willing to share European Union’s experience in Regulatory Science for Medical Products, such as, Regulatory Science to 2025: Strategic reflection which was launched in 2020 by the EU, continue supporting the work of the Regulatory Science Research Institute in Hainan.
