Meeting with Tianjin Vice Mayor on 14th-Five-Year Plan of Tianjin

On 3rd December 2020, The European Chamber Tianjin Chapter had a 2-hour closed-door physical meeting with a delegation led by Tianjin Vice Mayor Jin Xiangjun, formed by officials from departments of Tianjin Municipal Government, on 14th-Five-Year-Plan of Tianjin. 

The meeting was hosted by Ms. Catherine Guo, GM of The European Chamber Tianjin Chapter, Tianjin board members from AIRBUS, Volkswagen, Deloitte as well as 10 representatives from key members joint the meeting which with the participation of DG/DDG from Tianjin DRC, Tianjin Science and Technology Bureau, Tianjin Industry and Information Bureau, Tianjin Big Data Center and Tianjin Commerce Bureau. The European Chamber members raised questions mainly on energy transition plan, renewable energy local access and investment opportunities, and how European businesses develop in line with the Tianjin 14th Five- Year-Plan environmentally and low-carbon-orientedly . 

The government further explained the current progress on the local 14th Five-Year-Plan drafting and stated that they appreciated European businesses had the strong motivation to save energy and go carbon neutral. They would like to have more exchanges with the Chamber members, especially big-scale European manufacturing and call for comments on energy sector in the near future.

The meeting touched issues on talent retention policy related to young skilled workers, and those in high-tech R&D or innovative ones, How is Tianjin doing in attracting tech and Internet companies and the strategy about developing data center in Tianjin,etc.
