Meeting with Legislative Affairs Commission under the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (NPC LAC)

On 27th November, Joerg Wuttke, president of the European Chamber, led a delegation of members to meet with Zhang Yong, Deputy Head of Legislative Affairs Commission of National People’s Congress Standing Committee. The Chamber delegation included representatives of the ICT working group, cybersecurity sub-working group, and Pediatric Nutrition Desk.  Representatives from Economic Law, Civil Law, and Legislative Planning Departments of NPC LAC also attended the meeting. President Wuttke presented the European Busines in China Position Paper 2020/21 to Deputy Head Zhang and other representatives of NPC LAC. Deputy Head spoke highly of the Chamber’s efforts in providing recommendations to improve China’s business environment. Representatives of NPC LAC provided a detailed explanation and response to topics raised by the Chamber delegation, including the Data Security Law, Personal Information Protection Law, Hainan Free Trade Port legislative work, future work plan of the Social Credit System, and the Food Safety Law. Both parties expressed appreciation for the opportunity to meet and welcome further engagement in the future.
