Submitted Comments on MEE's National Catalogue on Hazardous Waste (revised draft)

On 12 October, the European Chamber's Environment and Petrochemicals, Chemicals and Refining working groups submitted comments on the Ministry of Ecology and Environment's National Catalogue on Hazardous Waste (revised draft). 

The working groups welcome an increased focus on environment and safety concerns, but remain concerned that companies will be prone to conservative interpretation during operations and therfore end up producing more waste that is classified as hazardous.

Detailed comments included more analysis on the particular characteristics of waste materials to determine if particular by-products are hazardous; more exemptions to accomodate waste package disposal; several product additions to the list; and more clarfiication on how to process exemptions.
