European Chamber President Met Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality

“European Chamber appreciates the very open discussion about how Guangzhou can take the lead in creating the soft infrastructure for the development of innovative and sustainable business environment”– said Mr Mats Harborn, President of the European Chamber after meeting with Mr Chen Zhi Ying, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality on February 1,2018. President of the European Chamber led the delegation of the members of the Executive Committee as well as representatives of European companies operating in Guangzhou. During this meeting, Vice Mayor introduced recent developments of Guangzhou and highlighted the importance of the city as one of key trading and manufacturing hubs in China. The counterparts spoke about the local initiatives focusing on attracting foreign companies especially focusing on new technologies and innovations.

The European Chamber confirmed its commitment to contribute positively to the development level of playing field for both European and local companies. Mr Mats Harborn, President of the European Chamber spoke about challenges that companies face in their operations and issues related to regulations enforcement in Guangzhou.

The meeting concluded with the hand-over of the European Business in China Position Paper 2017/2018 by Mr Mats Harborn, President of the European Chamber to Mr Chen Zhi Ying, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Municipality.
