GM stressed the importance and benefit for DG GROW to listen carefully to the feedback an input from the European Chamber and the EU SME Centre as well as having these two organisations participating in the EU-China SME Dialogue.

XSP gave an update regarding the lobby activities the EU SME Centre has been conducting during the last year and focused on the incorporation of the key recommendations of the Inter-Chamber SME position paper in the revision of the draft SME Promotion Act.  Besides he also referred to the discussion had with MIIT regarding the access of EU SMEs to the national SME development funds as well as the fact that the advocacy team of the EU SME Centre has been contacted by many government related agencies and industrial parks on how to target innovative SMEs for minority investments.

DG Grow informed that after the inter-Chamber SME WG meeting DG Grow and Bank of China will have a bilateral meeting. The intention of BoC is to sign a MoU related to a matchmaking platform. Some of the issues that DG Grow would like to address is the lack of access to finance.

CCPIT has also approached DG Grow with a proposal to set a matchmaking platform.

AD debriefed on the activities of the EU SME Centre and ideas and challenges for the future (phase III). GM mentioned he is aware of the situation of the EU SME Centre and supports it as considers its services add value.
