Zhejiang Province is at the forefront to establish a new centralised procurement system for disposable medical devices. The Health and Family Planning Commission (HFPC) of Zhejiang is promulgating different purchasing regulations for different product groups. Following a regulation on consumables for orthopaedics in 3Q 2015, Zhejiang has now specially published a draft for purchasing of consumables for general surgery.

The comments to the draft, formulated by the Chamber's Consumable and Disposable Medical Devices (CDMD) Advisory Committee, focus on technical details of the proposed regulation, e.g.

a new purchasing catalogue of anastomats was proposed

introduction of a new group of "innovative products" with less stringent price restrictions.
