The European Union Chamber of Commerce’s Financial Services WGs have been working with the EU Delegation in Beijing to organise regular meetings with the regulators (CBIRC and CSRC). The next “seminar” should be held in the coming months. Cyber security, data transfer, data protection seem to be common issues that the whole industry has to face and would like to discuss with CBIRC. The Personal Information Protection Law (PIPL) has come into effect on 1st November, 2021. This law affects every company and every industry’s handling of employee data including the collection, storage, and use of information. Similar to Europe’s GDPR, it brings about many questions and challenges for HR leaders in China looking to be compliant with this new regulation.
