The Corporate Social Credit System (SCS) is quietly changing the working of the Chinese economy. In 2019, a significant overhaul of the individual income tax (“IIT”) system has been introduced with a number of changes like IIT calculation method, redefinition of tax resident and non-resident, introduction of additional itemized deductions, transition period for certain preferential policy, etc. for individuals of Chinese or foreign nationality.
