Event description:
In China, livestreaming and mobile video apps grew in popularity earlier, and far more quickly. This was significant, because it gave a strong cultural foundation, onto which social commerce could build. Social commerce made up 13% of retail e-commerce sales in China in 2021, and the industry is expected to grow by 38.5% on annual basis to reach $363,547.3 million in 2022.

The way people communicate and live their lives has altered considerably and therefore influenced how companies operate and communicate with their clients. The rise of a new consumer class — the affluent, sophisticated, and highly connected millennial — has helped to grow the e-commerce revolution and make China a powerhouse of social commerce.

Multinational companies in China are facing more regulatory pressure on cybersecurity and data transmission in recent years. On one hand, China has stepped up its cyber-related legislation with an unprecedented speed.
