A strong corporate culture that invests in diversity and inclusion is one of the greatest competitive advantages a company can have. The lack of diversity in leadership is a missed opportunity for businesses, to gain benefits from inclusivity, a company’s commitment to diversity must be modeled by its leaders, in the C-suite and at all levels of leadership.
Does your company have diversity in its leadership? If not, you could be missing out on a host of business benefits, like more innovation, higher revenues and stronger talent acquisition opportunities.

The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China and the leaders who share their stories are all proud of contributing to creating more inclusive workplaces.

Chinese government authorities have recently issued a series of policies and draft amendments to push forward the establishment of the Social Credit System (SCS). Foreign enterprises are particularly concerned at how the SCS could affect the business operation of their Chinese subsidiaries.

The SCS will establish an information-sharing platform covering all the rating information on all companies registered in China. In principle, the equal enforcement of regulations will likely to create a more level playing field. However, this may be an overly optimistic interpretation, as the system does have the potential for discriminatory use towards international companies, as well as other major concerns such as the “joint sanctions” – blacklisted companies will receive not only sanctions from the government enforcement authority, but should restrictions and negative treatment from other government agencies.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is defined as a dynamic global network infrastructure with self-configuring capabilities based on standard and interoperable communication protocols where physical and virtual “things” have identities, physical attributes and virtual personalities, use intelligent interfaces and are seamlessly integrated into the information network. IoT has moved from being a futuristic vision to an increasing market reality both in China and Europe. In this context, the EUCTP II will contribute to a three day event dedicated to EU-China IoT cooperation in Beijing from 31 August until 02 September 2015. This activity will have the support of market stakeholders to sketch recommendations for a joint action plan. Following the first two conferences organized in October 2014 and April 2015 in Shanghai and Lyon, the exchanges will provide important input for the EU-China Information Technologies, Telecommunications and Informatisation Dialogue. Priority themes to be addressed will include IoT global opportunities as identified in the context of eHealth, smart cities, and industrial IoT applications under the topic Industry 4.0.
