As you may know, every year, the President of the European Chamber leads a delegation of senior representatives to present the annual Position Paper to high level representatives of the European Union Institutions in Brussels. This year the trip took place in the last week of September. After the recent amendment of China’s Individual Income Tax (IIT) Law, the European Chamber is glad to organise an exclusive meeting to analyse its implications for businesses, which will take place on Wednesday, 31st October, 15:00-17:00, at the European Chamber Shanghai Office. The European Chamber has been closely tracking this transition from a fee-based regime to a tax-based one and its impact on European business in China. On 26 January 2017, the Chamber submitted comments on the Implementing Regulations of the Law on Environmental Protection Tax (Draft for Comments) during a public consultation initiated by the State Administration of Taxation (see attached). To help members understand the essence of the transition, the European Chamber is pleased to invite Deputy Director General Sun Qun, Department of Property and Behaviour Tax of SAT, to interpret the Implementing Regulations of the Law on Environmental Protection Tax, and its enforcement plans and relevant guidance, followed by a roundtable discussion with members.
